COLOR MATCH GEL COAT PATCH
I'm asking because a you cannot get a patch paste repair kit from Spectrum for 1993 Electric Blue or Charcoal Grey. I want to get rid of those snaps, repair the other areas damaged and get the hull looking as good as new again.

The worst offenders are the screw-in snaps that someone installed for a boat cover. Some of the damaged areas are down to the glass (or deeper), so I can't just buff it out. Gelcoat derives its name due to it high viscosity and ability to be applied thickly on vertical and overhead surfaces in one coat. We stock a wide variety of colors in marine and tooling gelcoat. But now I am turning my attention to the Electric Blue and Charcoal Grey pieces of my hull. Gel coat is used as an in mold coating on composite parts to produce a durable part surface. Mix the exact porportion of mix, hardener, and color, to within a few hundredths of a gram. Without access to this, chances are slim unless you are very lucky. Most boatyards have someone who get this job and they will have a supply of white gelcoat and a kit of color pigments to work with. That stuff is amazing and the repaired areas look as good as new. All you need to do is control the surface temperature for several days before and after, Control the storage temperature of the components. It is very difficult to match gel coat color and whites are the most difficult. We match the original factory colors and can also produce custom matched colors. I have used a lot of the Spectrum Color gelcoat "patch paste" kits in fixing up the horrific gashes in my Silver Cloud colored hull and deck. Spectrum Color is the Worlds Leader in Specialty Gel Coat Products. Curious to know if anyone has had success at creating color matching gelcoat for repair of a serious scratch or ding?
